This collection contains examples of drawings and manuscripts by Robert Browning, Sr. (1782-1866), father of the poet Robert Browning. A clerk at the Bank of England, RB, Sr., had an interest in literature and art and supported his son’s pursuit of poetry as a career. He liked drawing sketches of human faces often accompanied with humorous captions or narratives. He was a voracious reader, possessed a large library, and produced notebooks full of historical notes and outlines.

The digitization of this collection was made possible with support from the Bob and Anna Wright Endowed Fund.
